And today I will be giving the initial impressions for another one of my most anticipated anime, Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai! / My Little Sister Can’t be This Cute! (S2).
So for those who don’t know, WHY is this show so HOT??
The story revolves around Kyosuke Kosaka, who is an extremely super average 17-year-old high-school boy. However, in the past few years, his relationship with his sister could be said to be, strained and cold. And who is this sister, well, she is Kirino Kosaka, who can be said to be an overachiever, getting top grades in school, sports as well as being a fashion model at such a young age of 14. You can say that both of them are complete opposites of each other.
However, one day, Kyosuke finds a DVD case of a magical girl anime on the ground, with a hidden EROGE disc inside (Adult Video Game) and wonders who’s it is. Upon further investigation, he finds out that it actually belongs to his sister! The same night, she attacks him in his bedroom, and shares the secret that she can’t share with anybody! Yes, she a full-on OTAKU!! She brings him to her room in the middle of the morning to show him her HUGE hidden collection of moe anime and lolicon bishoujo games that has been gathering in her closet. Mainly she likes only ”Little Sister EROGEs” and has no other ulterior motives. She then begins this ”Life Consultation” with Kyosuke.
To cut the long story short, this anime has a very heartwarming theme of a brother caring and always looking out / protecting for her younger sister, even though there are severe hardships and obstacles in life that face the both of them.
Season two kicks off where Kirino returns from her long overseas studies, where a lot of things have changed since she was gone, which I will not reveal cause it will spoil it for many people. And the first thing she does when she comes back…
YESH, the otaku’s reside.
The show basically continues from Season 1, but there are a lot of interesting developments this time, and they somehow managed to make it utterly hilarious (till I literally fell off my chair), with characters such as Ayase and Kyousuke becoming a bit
creepy interesting now. The anime actually follows the manga’s development, with the additional humour to make my sides hurt.
However, as seen from season 1, Ore no Imouto is one of those shows where you don’t expect a huge or major plot development from the beginning nor near the middle of the anime, but at the end of it all there is some conclusion which tends to be either, heartbreaking or heartwarming, very very much like Sakurasou. What I love about Ore no Imouto the best is probably the fact that it has a very close touch with us, be it if you’re an otaku or not, an anime watcher or manga reader, you would be able to relate (Of course Visual Novel and Love Sim Players would relate the most). It really reflects very well on how we are felt among society.
Personally this anime automatically gets a thumbs up, just because of what happened in Season 1. It was a loooong looooong wait for this season 2 to be out, but it finally did, and I’m overflowing with tears. The main theme of the anime would most probably be with regards to the bonds between sisters and his brothers, but of course, what do I know? The show hasn’t even ended yet!!
“Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai S2” will have 13 episodes, with 3 extra episodes as usual with different final paths. It premiered on Tokyo MX on the 6th of April this year, and is produced by A-1 Pictures. You can find the fansubs for the show at AsukaSubs, Commie, EveTaku and Hatsuyuki. It is also available on Crunchyroll.
ENJOY IMOUTO!!!! XD XD XD MORE SPRING 2013 TO COME.
